The supposed turn-around of Home Affairs under its new DA-aligned Minister has been stunning, with the latest from the department the announcement of the clearing of a 247 500 identity document backlog the entity has had since November 2023. And best of all, it was done within a single month.
There was no easy way out or cheap fix. The department did it by working hard and being clever.
Here’s how they did it:
Amid other announcements, Meta has revealed a prototype of its Orion smart glasses, which it says are the most advanced glasses in the world. Except that they are not actually for sale just yet, and no-one has actually been able to use them.
But they have plenty of cool features and as it stands, that exactly what the glasses are – a cool thing to look and think about.
Bolt has opened an engagement centre for its drivers in Cape Town. A long-time coming if you ask us, and we expect other centres to pop in in towns like Johannesburg soon enough.
